Fragment tracking with Si microstrip detectors
The performance of a new set-up of double-sided silicon micro-strip detectors (DSSD) developed for the R3B project [1] has been investigated in a production run aimed at measuring two-proton fragmentation of Mg and Ne [2]. To record simultaneously protons and the residual nuclei in micro-strip detectors requires both low-noise and wide-range integrated-circuit amplifiers. The present front-end ...
متن کاملDevelopment of compound semiconductor detectors at ESA
Some examples of space-borne applications that require improvements in detector technology compared with conventional Si and Ge designs are described. Properties of compound semiconductors are noted, and a range of different detector developments are briefly reviewed. Material fabrication improvements for several compound semiconductors have resulted in near Fano-limited performance.

Future of Semiconductor Based Thermal Neutron Detectors
Thermal neutron detectors have seen only incremental improvements over the last decades. In this paper we overview the current technology of choice for thermal neutron detection – He tubes, which suffer from, moderate to poor fieldability, and low absolute efficiency. The need for improved neutron detection is evident due to this technology gap and the fact that neutrons are a highly specific i...
